What are you worried about today?
Choose the statement that feels closest. You can always come back and choose another path — there is no wrong order.
My child is struggling in school
Reading, writing, focus, homework, grades, or keeping up.
Write down what you notice. Ask the teacher what support is happening now, and how the school knows whether the support is working. If your child continues to struggle, ask about an evaluation or an IEP meeting.
Someone mentioned an IEP or evaluation
Understand testing, services, meetings, and parent rights.
Ask why an evaluation is being discussed and what areas will be tested. Ask the school to explain the results in plain language. You can ask questions before signing consent.
My child seems anxious, angry, or overwhelmed
Big feelings, school refusal, sadness, worry, behavior, or family stress.
Notice when it happens. Talk to a counselor, social worker, teacher, parent coordinator, or doctor. Ask whether therapy, family therapy, or counseling may help.
I need help understanding services
Speech, OT, counseling, tutoring, neuropsych testing, therapy, or family support.
Ask what the service means, what it helps with, how often it happens, and how you will know if it is helping your child.
I think my child may need a different school
When supports are not enough, or your child needs a different setting.
First ask what support your child receives now. Ask what is working and what is not. Visit schools, and bring someone with you if possible.
